Whatever Happened to John 3:16?

Quite literally, every day we learn of another example of man’s inhumanity to man. News organizations, both traditional and Internet-based, daily report on the atrocities and unspeakable evil which permeates, affects, touches, or in some way influences the lives of nearly every person on planet Earth. We are being constantly made aware of new and terrible diseases, or the resurgence or mutations of age-old maladies which are increasingly affecting numbers of peoples all over the world. And, weather events and natural disasters continue to increase in severity and frequency.

However, those of us who consider ourselves to be a part of the True Church, the Body of Christ, point to prophetic Scripture and declare that the Bible says these things are to be so as we approach the end of days. We of course do so by sharing these things from our pulpits, or in our weekly Bible studies, or through books we write, or (more and more frequently) through blogs posted on our own websites and those of others.

News organizations detail the latest atrocities committed by ISIS in Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and the rest of the Middle East; Boko Haram in Africa, Russian separatists in Ukraine, the Iranian proxies (Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Syria and Lebanon), Al Qaeda in Yemen and Libya, the PLO in Israel, the Taliban in Afghanistan, Muslim extremists in Europe, and rising anti-Semitism worldwide. We hear about Chinese belligerence in the Far East, the nuclear aspirations of Iran, North Korea, and India, and increasingly, the failure of the United States to articulate any real understanding of, or implementation of, foreign policy.

In the US domestic news, we also read and see evidence of the growing influence of Islam, the continued proliferation of secular humanism in our institutions of learning, the insidious and intolerant assaults on Christianity and traditional family values by progressives (formerly known as liberals), and the militant minority LGBT community.

Lately, as I follow these news sources and then read the blog articles and comments of those in the Christian community, I have begun to see what I consider to be a disturbing trend. Many, though certainly not all, of these comments, articles, and posts focus on the condemnation of the individuals, groups, or countries committing these egregious acts without commenting on, or attributing, the ultimate reason for these evils to the very fact that we are living in a world which is ruled by the prince of the power of the air, and the rulers of darkness of this world, which is of course, Satan and his demons.

In fact, many in the Christian community have become so intentional in their desire to “expose” the hatred and evil inherent among those who are doing Satan’s bidding in these days, that they have forgotten not only the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and Great Commission (Mark 16:15), but in fact, the words of John 3:16. Even while acknowledging that we are living in the Last Days, that the Rapture of the church is imminent, and that a time of great Tribulation is approaching mankind, which will culminate in Christ’s physical return to the earth in power and great glory, we are failing to do the work which we were first called to do; proclaim the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 (NKJV)

Remember this verse? It is one of the best-known verses in the Bible. In fact, for most of us it is the very first verse we ever committed to memory. John 3:16 clearly and simply declares the Good News of the Gospel.

Let’s break this verse down a bit, “For God so loved the world” tells us that the creator of the universe loves His creation. However, the “world” here is not descriptive of the cosmos, or even the earth itself, but of all mankind. So the Scripture is saying that God loves all men, even those who scorn or reject His love. When I read “God so loved the world,” I can individualize that to say that He loves me. Yet, the same can be said by every other individual on the earth. This then means that the whole love of God is available to every single soul who has ever lived. Understanding that, the blessed truth here is this; no matter how far one distances himself from God, no matter how little one thinks of God, or no matter that one never even shows any love for God, it makes absolutely no difference to the very fact that God loves them.

Let’s continue, “that He gave His only begotten Son” is describing the fact that Jesus Christ became the sacrifice required by a Holy God to pay the sin debt of the entire world (read mankind). We must understand here that it was not Jesus’s death that turned God’s wrath and anger away from man, but rather it was God’s love for man which appointed Jesus Christ’s death. This then demonstrates that God loved men before He sent Christ to pay their sin debt. (2 Corinthians 5:14-21; Hebrews 2:9; 1 John 2:2)

This brings us to the last part of the verse, “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Now then, “whoever” means whoever. There is nothing complicated here, there is no mystery here, any and every man who believes that Jesus Christ paid his sin debt can have eternal life.

Believing in Christ means that we acknowledge that He alone could be the perfect sacrifice which a Holy God required. It is acknowledging Him as our Savior, and surrendering to Him authority in our lives as our Lord. It is the act of acknowledging His will as our own as we become His disciples.

God hates sin, and God certainly does not like the wicked state of the world in which we live. But God loves men, and Peter tells us that He is not willing that any should perish. (2 Peter 3:9)

So, the purpose of my article is this:

We who are disciples of Jesus Christ, who make up the Body of the True Church, which is the Bride of Christ, need to examine our attitudes as they relate to men and sin. When we stand in our pulpits, or sit before our computers we need to remember that Jesus Christ came to save sinners, and that but for the grace of God, we ourselves could still be in need of redemption. We need to humble ourselves as did the Apostle Paul when he wrote; “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief” (1 Timothy 1:15).

Jesus Christ came to save sinners, mankind; no matter what their nationality, no matter what their race, no matter what their religion, no matter what their sexual orientation, no matter what political office they may hold, no matter whether they are rich or poor, no matter what the circumstances of their life are, Jesus Christ paid their sin debt and we have the responsibility to share that Good News with them. No matter what the cost may be.

Reread the Book of Acts, up until his conversion on the road to Damascus in chapter 9, the church considered Paul (Saul of Tarsus) a terrorist. Yet, look at what Christ did with his life. Take a hard look at your life and examine what you might have become had it not been for Christ’s intervention and your salvation. Think about what Christ could do with the life of a world leader or even a would-be terrorist who found redemption in Him today.

Please understand this, I am not asking that we cease our efforts as “watchmen on the wall” or that we quit proclaiming the imminence of Christ’s return for His Church. I am not even suggesting we quit commenting on current events and their relationship to the end times.

What I am asking is that we refocus on that which is the most important task we have been given, to share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Share it in every message you preach, every study you lead, and every article you write. Is it not truly what we have all been called to do? Is it not really the reason we have become watchmen?

Yes, Jesus is coming soon, and we need to share the Good News so that many more will be ready for His coming.

Economic Crisis or World Government?

It is a well-known fact that many of the global elite have long believed that a global economic crisis could be a major step toward the establishment of a New World Order (one-world government).

For example, as far back as 1994, David Rockefeller said, “We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order.” He didn’t identify what this needed “major crisis” would be—but others have indicated that they think a major economic crisis would work.

In 2008, Prime Minister Gordon Brown of England said, “The international financial crisis has given world leaders a unique opportunity to create a truly global society.” Think about it! The Prime Minister of England thought the devastating financial crisis that started in 2008 was a unique opportunity to create a world government.

That is similar to Rham’s Rule (named after Rham Emanuel Pres. Obama’s former Chief of Staff). Simply put: Politicians should use crises to push through unpopular legislation or programs that people wouldn’t accept under normal circumstances. They should use a crisis to do their will instead of the will of the people.

In 2012, Nigel Farage, a member of the EU Parliament said:

It is very, very difficult to ignore those voices, who have been telling me for twenty years that behind all of this [the economic crisis] there are a group of people that want to create “a one world government.” I’ve tried to ignore those arguments and say, “Look, let’s not be too conspiratorial about this.” But goodness me its [a one world government ] beginning to stare us in the face.

It really started staring us in the face in November 2014. That is when the world’s so-called, too-big-to-fail banks (J.P. Morgan, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs Group, Bank of America and Morgan Stanley) got the G-20 to pass legislation that shifts the liability for bank failures from the banks to the bank depositors.
If that kind of legislation at that level is not a clear indication that the world’s largest banks are expecting a global economic crisis, I don’t know what is. The heads of those banks want their depositors and not themselves to be held liable for future bank failures.

About that same time (the fall of 2008), the price of oil was dropping and the economies of Russia, Iran, Venezuela and several African nations were feeling the impact. In many ways, the lower price of gasoline was a good thing for American citizens. But now we are hearing that the economies of Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and North Dakota could be in trouble.

Falling oil prices are cutting into the profits of American companies. Some are losing money because they can’t get oil out of the ground as cheaply as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iraq and others. Some have stopped purchasing oil permits for new wells. Some are considering large layoffs. Some are having trouble paying the interest on borrowed money. Some won’t have profits to pay stockholders.

And this is spilling over into other sectors of the American economy. American companies need less pipe, fewer pumps, fewer motors, etc. The companies that make these things need fewer employees. And on and on the downward cycle goes.

This is the point: There are powerful people who want a world government and believe a crisis—perhaps an economic crisis— is needed to force through public acceptance. The so-called, too-big-to-fail banks have pushed through legislation to shift the liability for major bank failures. The price of oil has dropped sharply, and although not all agree, some think an economic crisis could be looming.

Finally, the U.S. President is one of those Globalists who wants a world government. Some, such as Henry Kissinger, are even hoping that Pres. Obama will head it up. And if something doesn’t happen to change the situation, Pres. Obama will be out of office in the next two years. We are living in interesting times.

Mr. Kerry’s False Hope

“What is the greatest problem in the Middle East?” If you were a multi-millionaire with a degree from Yale University and another degree from Boston College Law School with an annual salary—close to $200,000, and you worked for the President of the United States, and you supervised about 12,000 people, and you had years of government experience, do you think you could come close to the right answer?

Would your answer be the greatest problem in the Middle East is the Islamic State? They have attacked Iraq, Syria, and the Kurds; threatened Israel, Saudi Arabia and Jordan; captured cities, robbed banks, burned churches; raped women and young girls; beheaded people, crucified people, buried people alive; sold women and children into slavery; forced people to pay for protection and starved people to death. They have practiced ethnic cleansing, religious cleansing, forced women into second class citizenship and more.

Would your answer be the greatest problem in the Middle East is the civil war in Syria? As of September 2014, the death toll surpassed 200,000 people. Nine and one-half million people have been forcefully displaced. Three million people have fled the country. Hundreds of thousands live in the squalor of cold tents and go to bed hungry.

Thousands have been tortured, thousands have disappeared, thousands of women have been raped, many men and women have been chained naked to walls and beds, many don’t have enough food or medicine. Chemical weapons have been used and one UN official, Paulo Sergio Pinhero, said, “I have run out of words to depict the gravity of the crimes depicted inside Syria.”

Would your answer be the greatest problem in the Middle East is Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons? Iran calls Israel a one-bomb nation because Iran believes one nuclear bomb is all that is needed to wipe Israel off the map. Iran says if we can make a nuclear bomb, will use it on Israel (and some say Saudi Arabia too).

Israel says she won’t let Iran get a nuclear bomb; Israel budgeted money two years in a row for a war with Iran; Israel increased her military spending to upgrade her air force in 2015. Russia says an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities would be considered an attack on Moscow, it would heighten the prospect of WW III, and it could lead to the use of nuclear weapons.

Would your answer be the greatest problem in the Middle East is the religious conflict the different groups of Muslims: Sunnis against Alawites; Sunnis against Shiites; Sunnis against Kurds; Sunnis against Yazidis, etc? The civil war in Syria is a war between the majority Sunni population and the minority Alawite population. The Islamic State’s war with Iraq is primarily a war between Sunnis and Shiites, but the Sunnis are also killing the Yazidis and Kurds.

You see, every one of these Muslim sects believes their sect is the only true sect and every one of them believes all of the other sects are pagans. All of them believe they have a religious responsibility to kill pagans and they believe the sect that follows the true Islamic religion will be the last one standing. So even though all of them have people that kill Christians, Jews and others it is a fact that Muslims kill more Muslims than anyone else.

More could be said, but it is time to get to the point. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was recently asked about the greatest problem in the Middle East and according to him it is not the Islamic State, Syria’s civil war, Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons or the religious conflict between Muslims. Mr. Kerry believes the greatest problem in the Middle East is the conflict between Israel and the PA. He even seems to believe that all of the problems in the Middle East can be solved if Israel will just agree to a peace treaty on the PA’s terms.

This is the real Jayvee team in action. Mr. Kerry actually believes the conflict between Israel and the PA is worse than the 200,000 killed in Syria, the nine and one-half million displaced there; the Islamic State beheadings, slavery, rape of women, killing of children; the Russian threat of WW III and the use of nuclear weapons; the multitudes killed in the Islamic religious wars, etc. It is incredible, but he believes that all of these wars, killings, murders, rapes and starvations are directly related to Israel’s refusal to sign a peace treaty on the PA’s terms despite the fact that the roots of these conflicts precede the existence of Israel and the PA.

According to what I have read, Mr. Kerry is probably worth somewhere between 200 and 300 million dollars and his wife Teresa is probably worth somewhere between 165 million and 3.2 billion dollars. So Mr. Kerry doesn’t need a refund on his education at Yale or the Boston College Law School, but his total lack of common sense and his incredible inability to understand the situation indicates that he wasted his money.

His false hope that all of the problems in the Middle East can be solved by forcing Israel to accept a peace treaty on the PA’s terms is misguided. If that treaty gets confirmed while Mr. Kerry is still alive, he will probably shout “peace and safety.” But when those famous words are shouted the problems in the Middle East will make the current situation seem like child’s play.

Watching For A Hook

The list of experts who teach that Russia, Iran and others will attack Israel in a future war called the Battle of Gog and Magog is impressive (Ezek. 38-39). So for the sake of brevity, I will simply state that God will put a hook in the jaws of Russia’s leader (Ezek. 38:4) and drag him and his allies into Israel in the latter days (Ezek. 38:16) and latter years (Ezek. 38:8). And I will make eight points about this in connection with current events.

First, Israel attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities is not the Battle of Gog and Magog. But, if Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear facilities, Russia and Iran have said they will counterattack and that could be the Battle of Gog and Magog.

Second, I agree with those who say Psa. 83 is a prayer about a war between Israel and her neighbors that will take place before the Battle of Gog and Magog. This war hasn’t happened, but events seem to indicate that it could happen soon. An Intifada has been raging in Jerusalem for more than two months; there is currently a temporary ceasefire between Israel and the PA, but Hamas is threatening to break it and no one expects it to hold.

Third, I agree with those who say Isa. 17 prophesies a war between Israel and Syria that will take place before the Battle of Gog and Magog. This hasn’t happened, but it is something else that could happen soon. The U.S. and several Arab allies have already attacked oil fields, refineries, Islamic State troops, other terrorists and weapons in Syria even though Russia, Iran and Syria warned us not to do it. In the past, Syria, Russia and Iran have threatened to attack Israel, if Syria is attacked. Israel has her troops on high alert and the IDF has just shot down a Syrian jet that supposedly strayed over Israeli territory.

Fourth, on Sept. 17, 2014, Israel’s Minister of Intelligence, Yuvall Steinitz said Iran is nine to eighteen months away from developing a nuclear bomb and Iran already has missiles that can deliver one. He pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “Israel will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.” Nine to eighteen months will quickly come and go. Therefore, it is obvious that time is running out for Israel to act and for Russia, Iran and others to respond.

Fifth, on Sept. 18, 2014, the P5 +1 (the permanent five members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) began what they call their final round of negotiations with Iran over the abandonment of Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons. Furthermore, the two sides have agreed to resolve all of their differences by Nov. 24, 2014. So the P5 + 1 and Iran are now less than two months away from their self-imposed deadline, the talks are going nowhere and Iran says she will not give up her nuclear program. In addition to this, because of western sanctions on Russia over her actions in Ukraine, Russia has threatened to retaliate against the west by siding with Iran in these negotiations.

Sixth, in 2013, Israel included almost three billion dollars in her budget to finance a war with Iran. In 2014, Israel budgeted almost three billion dollars more for a war with Iran. In Sept. 2014, while preparing Israel’s budget for 2015, a problem arose. Israeli Finance Minister, Yair Lapid, did not want to raise taxes on the Israeli people, but Israeli Air Force Commander, Maj.-Gen. Amir Eshel, wanted more money to upgrade Israel’s Air Force and Prime Minister Netanyahu wanted more money to finance operations to deal with security threats against Israel. Some in the media took Mr. Netanyahu’s request for more money to mean that Israel will soon attack Iran’s nuclear facilities. Could it happen in the next nine months?

Seventh, Russia’s economy is in trouble. Mr. Putin is still financing a covert war in Ukraine. Western nations have gradually upped sanctions on Russia and the sanctions are finally beginning to take hold. Russia threatened to cut off the flow of natural gas to the EU, but the loss of income could be devastating. The value of the Ruble has dropped 15% against the dollar this year and a recession is looming. Russia will soon have to change her ways, deal with a recession, or find a prey with silver and gold, cattle and goods.

Eighth, based on the Jewish Talmud (not the Bible) some say a Tetrad of blood moons are an omen of war for Israel. It is a debatable issue, but no one can deny that the first blood moon in the current Tetrad occurred on April 15, 2014 (the Feast of Passover), the next blood moon will occur on October 8, 2014 (the Feast of Tabernacles) and there will be two more in 2015.

Russia is still causing trouble in Ukraine; Pres. Obama is arming the so-called friendly rebels in Syria; the U.S. and several Arab allies are attacking the Islamic State in Syria; Israel’s war with Hamas is probably not over; so it is quite possible that within months God could set the hook on Russia. Time will tell.

Showdown In The Land Of Babylon

From Genesis to Revelation, the land of Babylon and the city of Babylon (Iraq) occupy a prominent place in Scripture. Together, the land and the city are mentioned almost 300 times in the Bible. Without question, many of these references are about ancient Babylon, but also without question many other references are about Babylon’s future just prior to and during the Tribulation Period (Isa. 13:6-16). Also, it is important to separate the prophecies about the land from the prophecies about the city.

Some verses of Scripture tie the city of Babylon to false worship. Nimrod built a ziggurat near there called the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11:1-9). I don’t know what was on top of the Tower of Babel, but later ziggurats had temples or altars on top of them and they were used for astrology, human sacrifice, the worship of Marduk and things like that. False worship and slaying people for religious reasons are an ancient Babylonian custom that still exists today.

King Nebuchadnezzar built a statue near the city of Babylon and ordered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to worship it or die (Dan. 3:1-30). Slaying people who won’t convert is another ancient Babylonian custom. Zechariah had a vision of a wicked woman (the opposite of the Bride of Christ; a harlot religion) that will be carried to Babylon in an ephah (a symbol of commerce and trade) in the future (Zech. 5:5-11). Some believe this means that the city of Babylon will be the future home of a global false religion and economic system. The Book of Revelation speaks of Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots (false worship) and Abominations of the Earth that is also a city loved by the merchants of the earth (Rev. 17-18).

Some verses of Scripture tie Babylon to demonic activity. Many writers think the Garden of Eden was in Babylon and Satan went there (Gen. 2:14; 3:1-5). Sorcerers practiced in the city (Dan. 2:2; 3:5). Daniel was in Babylon when the prince of Persia (a fallen angel) hindered the answer to one of his prayers (Dan. 10:13). Isaiah said satyrs (demons) will dance on the site of the burned city and the Book of Revelation confirms it (Isa. 13:19-22; Rev. 18:2).

Some verses of Scripture teach that the destruction of the land (not the city) of Babylon will start before the Tribulation Period and continue on into the Tribulation Period. God will assemble a multi-national force in the mountains of Babylon to move against the evil in the land with the weapons of His indignation (a name for the Tribulation Period) when the day of the Lord (the Tribulation Period) is near (Isa. 13:3-6). God will lay the land of Babylon desolate when the day of the Lord is coming (Isa. 13:9). Then, He will punish the world in the day of his fierce anger (Isa. 13:11-13). So the beginning of the destruction of the land of Babylon (Iraq) is a sign that the Tribulation Period with its seal, trumpet and bowl judgments is drawing near.

Some verses say the city (not the land) will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah (Isa. 13:19). The city must be rebuilt because it hasn’t burned yet, but it will burn during the Tribulation Period (Rev. 18:8) between the seventh bowl (Rev. 16:17) and the Second Coming of Jesus (Rev. 19:11-16). God said the city of Babylon will be destroyed suddenly (Jer. 51:8) and in the Book of Revelation, He said her plagues will come in one day (Rev. 18:8) and her riches will be destroyed in one hour (Rev. 18:10, 17, 19). He also linked several verses in Isa. 13 and Jer. 50-51 to Rev. 17-18 (Isa. 13:21 to Rev. 18:2; Jer. 50:15 to Rev. 18:6; 51:7 to 17:4 and 18:3; 51:8 to 18:2; 51:9 to 18:4; 51:13 to 17:1, etc.).

Jeremiah tied the destruction of the city (not the land) of Babylon to the salvation of the Jews. He said the Jews will weep and seek the Lord, their God and join themselves to Him in a perpetual covenant at the time of Babylon’s (the city’s) destruction (Jer. 50:4-5). Zechariah tied Israel’s weeping to the Second Coming of Jesus, the Battle of Armageddon and His outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Zech. 12:7-14). So the city’s destruction will occur instantly at the end of the Tribulation Period after the everlasting gospel has been preached all over the world (Rev. 14:6-8).

Some verses of Scripture teach that the Medes (Kurds) will play a dominant role in the future destruction of both the land, and later, the city of Babylon. God called on the nations to prepare their multi-national forces to join the Medes (Kurds) to make the land of Babylon desolate (Jer. 51:28-29). God said He will stir up the Medes (Kurds) against the men in the city of Babylon (Isa. 13:17). He said He will use the Medes (Kurds) to destroy the city of Babylon (Jer. 51:11). [Editor’s note: See more of Daymond Duck’s views on the Medes in his earlier post here.]

It is possible that the genocidal actions of the Islamic State (IS) have started the ball rolling on the fulfillment of these prophecies. Demonic describes those who behead, crucify or bury alive other human beings. It describes those who refuse food and drink to children who are dying of hunger and thirst and those who make sex-slaves out of young girls. It describes those who make mothers watch while their babies are cut in two and their husbands are slaughtered. It describes those who kill for religious purposes and those who demand that people convert or die. It describes the Islamic State and also the satanically inspired False Prophet who will behead people during the Tribulation Period (Rev. 13:15; 20:4).

In recent years, most of the nations in the world have been reluctant to sell weapons to the Kurds (Medes), but the demonic actions and gruesome videos of the Islamic State have profoundly altered the thinking of world leaders. The UN Security Council now recognizes the dangers of radical Islam. The UN Security Council has met and demanded that the Islamic State stop their attacks, disarm and disband; and the UN Security Council did it under a section of its Charter that allows the UN to militarily enforce their demand.

God said He will gather a group of mighty nations with the weapons of His indignation in the mountains of Babylon to destroy the land (Isa. 13:3-4). Several nations have now shipped or are preparing to ship modern weapons to the Kurds who occupy the mountains of Babylon (Iraq). Some are sending troops and this could be a clear indication that the Tribulation Period is close (Isa. 13:5; Jer. 50:3, 9-10, 15, 25-26, 41, 46). It could mean that God is ready to move decisively against those in the land of Babylon (Iraq) who are robbing, killing and raping His people and destroying His churches.

Obviously, the Kurds and their UN supporters can’t use these weapons against the city of Babylon at this time, but UN involvement is setting the stage for the city to be rebuilt and its destruction won’t be many years behind. In the last two weeks, Pres. Obama has called for a multi-national force to join the U.S. and the Kurds; since Aug. 8, 2014, the U.S. Air Force has destroyed dozens of Islamic State targets; the Kurds have recaptured the Mosul Dam; the EU has met and authorized member nations to help; England has announced that it is sending troops; the U.S. has announced that it may send more troops to join several hundred that are already there; and the prophetic picture of the Bible is starting to unfold.

In closing, I am not a prophet, but as I understand the Scriptures, this is just the beginning of a showdown in Babylon that will shake the world. As we approach the Tribulation Period, I expect the Islamic State to be brutally crushed and the land of Babylon to be seized and secured by the Globalists with the help of the Kurds (Medes). Then, I expect the Globalists to quickly rebuild the ancient city of Babylon to house their Global religion and economic system. Finally, at the end of the Tribulation Period, I expect the Kurds to use some of their modern weapons to destroy that city suddenly.

Isn’t Prevention Better Than Provision and Protection?

If you are of a conservative political view in our country, you are often accused of being intolerant, insensitive and just inappropriate for mixed company. If you are an evangelical Christian on top of that, well, you have just raised the ante a bit along with the associated uproar. But that shouldn’t stop us from saying and doing what we believe to be the right thing. It shouldn’t stop us from acting, to the best of our abilities (which are usually outstripped by our intent), as we believe our Lord and Savior would in those same circumstances.

Some Christians may struggle with the right response to what we see going on in Iraq, as the IS (or ISIS or ISIL or whatever acronym is in vogue today) persecutes, tortures and murders men, women and children that are in their path who do not believe with the same insane religious fervor the things they believe in. These murderers act like rabid dogs, yet some wonder if the response need be sorrow, grief and prayer on our part for those who are in harm’s way; while those unfortunates just need to show the love of Christ to their enemies while butchered.

I can think of some rather short and graphic responses to that line of reasoning, but the language would be less than proper.  Rabid dogs need to be put down, quick and permanently.

I don’t know why anyone need act like a doormat as they face their assassins. Remember, not all in the path of the IS are Christian; there is also the Yazidi people group facing the wrath, there are Kurdish forces fighting to hold them back, there are probably coreligionists who just aren’t up to the exacting standards of their version of retributive justice in the name of Allah. There does not seem to be a JV within the IS.  All these people need hear of  the love of Christ and need accept Him as the only way to their salvation before we could even expect them to begin attempting to act like Him.

Jesus asked us to turn the other cheek, that is true; but I believe that is in the context of a personal attack against yourself. Slander, physical abuse, even persecution against one’s own person in the name of the Gospel endured with a measure of Christ-like patience and perseverance is the cheek-turning called for. Wholesale genocide is not an option on the table. Turning our backs of those who need our help, our brothers and sisters in Christ, members of our heavenly family, is not a course of inaction to embrace, promote or encourage our leaders to follow.

Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 82:3-4

Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow. Isaiah 1:17

These passages are a clear call to defending those who are helpless for themselves. Acts 6:1 describes the anger felt by those who believe the local church was not taking care of the widows and orphans properly. And the church responded and took care of the issue. They had it all sorted out by Acts 6:7. Took them 6 verses to respond, just 6. So why are we still milling around about what is going on in Iraq without speaking out more, urging our leaders to make a more forceful response, with both humanitarian aid and military supplies to those fighting the battle? What is happening in Iraq is probably going on elsewhere in the world as well, it just isn’t on the mainstream media radar screen now. We need seek out those situations, exposing them to the harsh light of public criticism and to a call to action as well.

Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach him to fish  and he can eat for life. Hand him an AR-15 and some ammo clips, and he can kill those trying to rape and murder his wife, mother, sister and daughter. I have no problem sending supplies to those fighting the IS to enable them to fight harder, longer and more effectively. Freeing the helpless from the hand of the wicked is honorable and in my opinion, biblical as well. Defending the weak and oppressed is a call to answer.

We should give provision and protection to widows and orphans. Why would anyone think we should not try to prevent their being made so in the first place? Why isn’t prevention at the outset better than protection and provision after the fact?

The Horse’s Mouth

Pres. Obama is beginning to receive more than a little well-deserved criticism for his constant fundraising. I am not saying fundraising is wrong. But I am saying that Pres. Obama doesn’t let anything interfere with an expensive trip on Air Force One at taxpayer expense to raise money for his political party; that Pres. Obama has taken approximately 400 trips; that it is not unusual for Pres. Obama to be gone for more than a day and to do something else while he is gone (such as play golf); that Pres. Obama is doing it so much that some are accusing him of neglecting his presidential duties and that there are even rumors that some of his donors are growing weary of being asked to give over and over again.

Pres. Obama is also beginning to receive more than a little well-deserved criticism for not telling the truth. It is obvious that his pledge to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States was not true; that those shovel-ready jobs did not exist; that his administration is not the most transparent administration in history; that many who liked their healthcare plan were not allowed to keep it; that our border with Mexico is not secure, and more. Pres. Obama’s dishonesty is blatant, outrageous and well-known.

Having said that, with war raging in Israel, Syria, Iraq and Libya; an unprecedented crisis on the U.S-Mexican border; a Malaysian airliner shot down over Ukraine (perhaps by Russia); and more; Pres. Obama recently embarked on a three-day, five-stop fundraising trip to the U.S. West Coast. And, on at least one of those five stops, he uttered the absolute truth and if I rightly understand what he said, everyone needs to sit up and take notice. He was talking about some of the problems in the world when he said, “part of people’s concern is just the sense that around the world the old order isn’t holding and we’re not quite yet to where we need to be in terms of a new order that’s based on a different set of principles, that’s based on a sense of common humanity, that’s based on economies that work for all people.”

First, Pres. Obama said, “the old order isn’t holding.” This is absolutely true because a strong Christian based U.S. headed up the old world order until Pres. Obama took office. But Pres. Obama reduced America’s nuclear weapons, reduced America’s military, damaged America’s economy, betrayed America’s allies, spread immorality and lied to the point that most of the world no longer respects or trusts Pres. Obama or the U.S. The decline of the U.S. has caused the decline of the old world order.

Second, Pres. Obama said, “we’re not quite yet to where we need to be in terms of a new order.” This is absolutely true because the Rapture hasn’t happened and the Antichrist can’t be revealed until the church is in heaven; all of the ten regions with their Ten Kings (ten leaders) are not fully developed; the negotiations to produce a Middle East peace treaty have collapsed and more. We’re almost there, but not quite.

Third, Pres. Obama said, the new order will be “based on a different set of principles.” This is absolutely true because the New World Order will be a satanic world order not a Christian world order. It will be “against the Christ” (antichrist), spy on, persecute and kill believers. The Golden Rule, Ten Commandments and all other Christian principles will be discarded.

Fourth, Pres. Obama said this different set of principles will be “based on a sense of common humanity.” People will be viewed as citizens of the world not as citizens of a nation and the values of individual religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc.) will be replaced by a common set of politically correct values, rules and laws that are being determined by the elite.

Fifth, Pres. Obama said this different set of principles will be “based on economies (plural) that work for all peoples.” I have long believed that the world will be divided into ten economic regions (ten trading blocks of nations) that will be transformed into ten political regions patterned after the EU and each one will have their own currency, leader or king, etc. I believe that this must happen before the Antichrist can rise to power and establish a one-world economic system. So the world will be merged in phases or stages: more than 190 nations (economies) will be merged into ten groups of nations (economies) and then the ten will be merged into a one-world government and economic system. Wealth redistribution will be a big issue.

In the 1800’s, someone coined the phrase “straight from the horse’s mouth.” Among other things it means “if you want to know the facts, ask someone that is involved.” What Pres. Obama said about the new order (New World Order or World government) came straight from the horse’s mouth.
